If you want something give it away.

By Harleen Kaur

The need is to identify what you have in abundance, what you are good at and what you are wilting to share.

A teacher once said, 'Smile at somebody and he will smile back.' However, if you shout at somebody you will be shouted back and not just once but many many times. Similarly if you love a child, he will smile back and come for more. We are all like children: We all need love, want to be loved, but we hesitate in giving it.

As Mother Teresa has said, "There are many medicines and cures for all kinds of sickness. But unless kind hands are given in service and generous hearts are given in love, there cannot be a cure for the terrible sickness of feeling unloved."

If you have love, give love to people. Do not wait for the other person to take the first step. You take it! Show them what love is! Give all the love you have -- you will only get more.

Give what you have, and you will appreciate life mows. If you have money give money to the needy. If you have time -- give your time as service for some charitable work. The more you do service, the closer you will feel to God. If you can also give what you are good at — there are doctors who give free treatment at temples and gurudwaras. If you have happiness share it with other people. If you are a teacher, you might want to take time out to teach some children. The need is to identify what you have in abundance, what you are good at and what you are willing to share.

And then just share it.

Children are taught to share their food in school. Somehow as we grow up we forget this. If any of your actions can bring joy to somebody or make the person happy or help him meet his requirements — your own life will be filled with pleasure. We should be grateful to those who give us the opportunity to give, because it is in giving that we will receive.

Master Choa Kok Sui, modern founder of Pranic Healing says, "Whatever you want, that is what you give.... If you want love, you have to give love. You have to be like a sun, constantly radiating. It is up to the other person whether they want to have a sun bath.... If you want to be rich, give money... if you want to master a subject, teach it."

People die of hunger, people are sick and unloved. Is this because of their destiny or is it because we are not generous enough? Do we see God in that hungry person, in the sick, the unloved? If we did, generosity would come to us naturally.

If each one of us gives even a portion of what we have, not only will the world be better place to live in, but with every generation it will only keep becoming better. We would literally have a heaven on earth.

The writer is a senior Pranic Healer and Arhatic Yogi.
