An Open Letter to the Taala'i Lama 5-4-06

My dear Vajra Brother,
You are bound to be amazed at this form of address.

Let's go back to the rudiments of the Vajrayana. You will recall that during an initiation, one's Father is the Spiritual Master and the Divinities and the Mandala of initiation, one's Mother. The samaya bond between disciples is the greatest when they are initiated together into a particular mandala by a Master at the same time. The bond between others initiated at differing times by the same Master and into the same mandala is almost equally as strong.

Let us now take a journey down memory lane. You will certainly recall that during the tumultuous years immediately preceding your enthronement, Tibet was being ruled by two Regents -- Radreng Rinpoche and Tagdra. Various Kagyu and Nyingma Authentic Masters were then visiting Lhasa. The previous Dudjom and Drugpa Yongdzin Rinpoche incarnations were creating waves in the social circuit. Ladies in particular had reasons to be extremely circumspect concerning them. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why, attempts were constantly made by you and the Gelugpa establishment embodied in your elder brother, Gyal Thondup, to have the former discredited with the Govt of India and even placed behind bars as a common criminal. Be that as it may, but this is a digression!

A highly evolved Lama around fifty was also visiting Lhasa, having spent eighteen long years in retreat, emerging as the Retreat Master of Tsa-ndra Rinchen Dhrag, the retreat centre at Palpung in Dege. Radreng Rinpoche, particularly impressed by him had requested that he impart to him the entire gamut of the Shangpa Kagyu transmissions. Surely you too had been directed to take these from this Master who the world has come to revere as His Eminence Kalu Rinpooche.

You may also recall that he was one of the multiple incarnations of Jamgon Kongtrul Lodhro Thaye who had once even successfully treated your Lineage Guru Phawangkha. It was therefore that the retreat centre had been spared the effects of the latter's brilliant activities! Perhaps few know that HE Kalu Rinpoche was rewarded by the gift of the monastery at Sonada, Darjeeling by none other than Trijang Rinpoche, your Senior Tutor and a direct disciple of the redoubtable Phawangkhapa.

It is thus that you and I are vajra brothers.

HE Jhadhral Rinpoche, an accomplished Nyingma Lama, too had made an impression on this Regent. There is an opinion that the Gelugpa establishment did not quite resonate with his predilections leading to his incarceration in the Potala version of Abu Ghraib, preceded by the Cabinet Minister known as Long-shar-wa -- ‘the one who has been blinded’. We are certainly agreed that the less said about this, the better!

In any case, his monastic estate, the Radreng Labrang, was subsequently attacked by govt troops, destroyed and looted!

No, this was certainly not the Chinese army destroying a Buddhist establishment, as you well know, it was the Gelugpas themselves waging war on other Gelugpas! That's heavy, isn't it?

You might remember too that a Gelugpa American disciple of yours, obviously brainwashed Al Qaeda style, had physically attacked HE Jhadhral Rinpoche at his abode in Yanglaysho perhaps the summer of 2002!

But oops, what am I writing. After all the Tibetans are 'a simple mountain people who merely want their country back,' or so you would have the world believe! We will also not digress to the confabulations through which you had attempted a coup in Bhutan in the mid seventies. You had conveniently refrained from informing Mrs. Indira Gandhi then  that a country protected by Guru Rinpoche is practically invincible to external intrigues! Perhaps you don’t know this yourself!

Yet again in the seventies you had taken the Maha Ati teachings from HH Dhilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, the Raja Guru of Bhutan. Thus yet again, we have created the samaya bonds of spiritual brotherhood.

Isn't it extraordinary then, that you would have sought to have HH exterminated together with other non Gelugpa Masters in that same decade? And isn't it the more extraordinary and outrageous, given that you too claim to be a practitioner of Nyingma teachings!

Or was this the master plan of some Gelugpa fundamentalists concerning which you were kept in the dark? But then you could have stymied this process the moment you found out about it? Or was it inconvenient for you to do so given the involvement of your confidante elder brother!

In any case, the responsibility for this diabolical conspiracy falls entirely upon your shoulders alone!

On the 3rd of April between 1930 and 2045 hours, my wife, son, friend and I had the distinct feeling that we were being attacked through black magic. The first images which came through after the initial period of consternation, were of Palden Lhamo Magzor Gyalmo. When her sword failed to penetrate our shield, it transformed into an image of Lay kyi Shinje and then Yamantaka himself, the principal Gelgupa Ishta or Yidam, who too later disappeared without having accomplished much other than revealing himself to us.

This is fascinating indeed for various reasons. The first is that it assumes that Je Tsongkhapa, the progenitor of your cult, is more powerful than Guru Padmasambhava. The latter has continued to manifest throughout Tibetan history in diverse forms performing wondrous activities.

Je Tsonkhapa, as per the testimony of Drugpa Kunleg, 'came once and none knows where he went subsequently!'

The second assumption is that the Yamantaka Tantra is more powerful than the Nyingma Vajra Kilaya and others of the Mahayoga. This again is a terrible misconception on your part as has been repeatedly proven. The black powers are merely reflected back to its progenitors destroying them!

The third is that you need to invoke the verity of the Three Jewels and others and explain to them the manner in which I qualify within the ten parameters of being inimical to the Saddharma. The wrathful activity of an Ishta or Dharma Protector may certainly be invoked to care for anti dharma forces. What then would you tell them about me -- that I am a confounded iconoclast -- a non-Tibetan -- who has the temerity to repeatedly challenge your aspirations to rule the world?

Would the divinities accept this as a genuine complaint.

The only thing I am inimical towards is the manner in which you have honed confabulation to a fine art through which you have emerged as the amongst the greatest threats to the national security of India, the country which has hosted you for a half century! According to you, this is passe!

Given the verity of these statements, can it be possible that Yamantaka and Palden Lhamo will actually do your bidding and attempt to destroy me? Surely there is a tremendous inconsistency here!

Surely the wisdom divinities are far wiser than you are and they would hardly concur with you! Or would they? The answer is yours to give!

It stands to reason therefore that you will need to invoke the Malleus Maleficum against me. Or perhaps engage the services of a wicked spirit or that of those who unflinchingly  serve you to appease you in whatever manner they can author against us. Surely you have no shortage of such in your extensive repertoire!

In conclusion, it would be far better for you to conserve your energies as the reversion of black magic is known to destroy its progenitor. Moreover, it is hardly likely that the Government of India would have been particularly amused by your attempt to use black magic against us, our followers the world over, aghast!

It's a pity that all this needs to be made public, but the necessity has clearly arisen at this juncture to do so.

You are bound to remember also the letter I had sent you by registered post way back in 1994 elucidating the teachings of samaya, vajrayana covenants, and the four stages of the manner in which it may be damaged -- nyam, chhag, ral and day! You will recall that I had urged you to rescind the steps you had taken against the Karma Kagyu and restore harmony amongst the Tibetan Buddhist community. Perhaps you would like me to dig it out of my archives and make it generally available.

Clearly you did not take this exposition of the Dharma seriously and have continued to create and nurture ill will amongst us vajra companions in India and abroad. All these actions of yours clearly qualify you to an extended sojourn in the choicest of hells known as 'nar-med' or the avici inferno!

Aristotle c. 384 BCE, believed that 'to be good, one can't just study virtue, one has to do good deeds. But what is good ... everything that is done with a good intention in mind is good! Wonder if you confabulations and intrigues would qualify thus as virtue!

Yes you are certainly a scholar, but definitely not a pandita for a pandita actually implements in his-her life the causes which further the weal of the world and abjures such actions which will cause further disharmony and strife.

You could certainly quote chapter and verse on each of the above issues in spite of which your track record is clearly abysmal. Just by waxing erudite in the grandiose Indian tradition, publishing books, wearing robes of holiness, cannot make you truly a spiritual person. You must live that which you preach, but you do you?

I know you would have the world believe that you do, but your blue eyed boys and girls who know nothing about you, your culture and history, would insist that you do! Data concerning your hypocrisy and subtility is skillfully hidden from them.

You are basically a creation of the media which has laboured intensely over the preceding decades to hoist you up to the seventh heaven! The poor fools that they are! They assess you on the basis of PR!

And you actually measure yourself on the basis of these encomiums taking them to be a testimony of your supposed incorruptibility! Clearly the Lojong teachings have been lost upon you!

Most of us suffer from not being aware of our own mortality. Particularly those in power! My own mother attempted to play God with me during the last five years of her life -- an attempt which old age and death brilliantly vanquished! The legacy she left behind is hardly commendable!

Thus will it be with you, dear vajra brother. Your time in this present incarnation is fast running out. It remains to be seen as to which genies you further unleash during the remaining years.

Shakespeare stated it wisely in Julius Caeser -- ‘the good that men do is oft interred with their bones, the evil lives long after them!’

You clearly remain an early student in the study of life!
